“He sports with his creatures, but he does not laugh at them”, is what the Talmud tells us. That is why the evening “Lerne lachen, ohne zu weinen” invites the audience to burst out in laughter, without laughing at someone. Humoristic and ironic texts of Jewish authors, as well as Jewish chansons and songs will be presented by Katharina Thalbach, Nadine Schori, Boris Aljinović, Walter Kreye, Gerhard Kämpfe, Sharon Brauner, and Karsten Troyke and Band. Reflecting Paul Spiegel, the former chairman of the central council of Jews in Germany: “Jewish humor was and is the most beautiful weapon of a minority, because humor does not kill”.
The evening is directed by Nadine Schori. A production of the Jewish Culture Days Berlin in association with the Renaissance-Theater Berlin.
