Imagine the following: 13 people, coincidently all Jewish, get stranded on a deserted island. This is the beginning of adventure, quarrel and of a comedy of a special kind! Sholem Aleichem (1859–1916) was one of the most important authors of the Yiddish language. While he was known worldwide and celebrated as a hero by Jews during his lifetime, he is now nearly forgotten in Germany. Actor Georg Stephan and the director Yannik Böhmer remind us in their stage adaption of the tale “Die erste jüdische Republik” which celebrated its premier in 2016. The comedic solo now returns to the capital city. Directed by Yannik Böhmer, Georg Stephan is acting. Supported by the Jüdische Gemeinde zu Berlin.
