Greetings from the Organizers
When we decided on the motto »Shalom Berlin« in 2016, we did not foresee that the importance of desire for freedom, integration and understanding each other would continue to grow the way it has. Attacks on people wearing the kippa and a growing ethnically influenced nationalism show us the importance of countering this together. One of the ways to do this is the introduction to Jewish culture. It can, and should, become a bridge to understanding and respecting each other. One of the focus points of this year’s Jewish Culture Days is the foundation of the state of Israel 70 years ago. So we are happy that we can introduce fantastic artists from Israel like Ester Rada, David Broza or Avishai Cohen to the audience in Berlin. From Berlin’s cultural scene, we have invited artists like the amazing Dagmar Manzel, the world-class countertenor Jochen Kowalski and Ilja Richter. Of course Jewish humor plays a big part again as well. That is why we are going to show “Learning to laugh, without crying III” twice this year in the Renaissance Theater, as this evening was completely sold out both times before.
We welcome you to the 31st Jewish Culture Days by saying: Shalom Berlin.
